About Us

In 1944, Joe Maier traveled north from the rocky limestone  of Penfield  and walked over a nice sandy loam farm in Webster thinking this is the place to grow vegetables!

For more than fifty years he grew those crops and built a successful farm business, as well as raising four sons along with his wife Eleanor.

Over the years he grew tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, grains and strawberries.

Mike joined his dad on the farm in 1973 and Joe in 1984.

In 1987 Mike and Joe purchased the farm from their dad and Joe continued to work along with the boys until he fell ill in 1994.

Today's farm crops include cabbage, grains, pumpkins, squash, sweet corn.

Joe passed away in 1995, but sons Mike and Joe continue to trim cabbage every year with hired workers.

In 1973, Mike graduated from Cornell University and built two Cornell style greenhouses on the farm. This grew to 18 wood frame houses by 1987.

In the fall of 1988, four and a half gutter connected greenhouses and an attached Morton building were built. Today there are a total of eight and a half gutter connected greenhouses and across the driveway there are an additional six free standing steel pipe framed greenhouses, giving us a total of thirty five and a half greenhouses.
